Our hikes vary in ability levels. An 'easy' hike means low elevation gain, a short distance, and suitable for toddlers to hike most or all of it. A 'moderate' hike means that the elevation gain could be a couple hundred feet, the distance more than 2 miles, and it is suitable for kids around the age 5+ to hike. A 'hard' hike means that there could be several hundred feet of elevation gain, the distance is 3+ miles, and it is suitable for older kids. We rate each hike in one of the categories listed above and it is listed on the description of the hike on our calendar. There is so much variety in what we do with our hikes. Parents carry their kids in carriers, we have moms join us soon after giving birth, families with older kids, families with young kids and everything in between. One thing to keep in mind is that our hikes are always low-pressure. If you come in late, or need to leave early, no worries! Our main goal is to just be outside with our kids, enjoying one another's company.
Our running group is an easy-going run along the Ogden River Parkway Trail. We meet at the Ogden Botanical Gardens and start from there. Typically we go a slower pace and log 2-4 miles with a mix of walking and running. We will also have meet ups at parks every now and then when the weather permits it. We have more of these meet ups when the weather isn't very hot or very cold.
Our field trips are usually at facilities that are educational, like museums and nature centers, and occasionally at splash pads or pools. They can sometimes cost a few dollars, but we try our best to have our field trips at very affordable places!
Our Mama's Nights are the perfect monthly event to plan into your schedule each month so you are sure to get a much needed and well-deserved break! These events will take place once a month and they are specifically for moms only. We meet up to have fun together doing things such as hiking, bowling, indoor rock climbing, yoga, movie nights, and much more! Each month we do something different.
Our Community Garden plot is home to our 'Little Sprouts' in Ogden and we plan to tend to it each year to teach our kids where food comes from and valuable lessons all while having a blast!
