Our meet up leaders are volunteers who make our club's meet ups possible. These moms are friendly, kind, fun, cheerful women. Each leader adds something special to our club and we are so happy to have each of them involved with WOC.
Ashley Meeks is a mother to a 3 year old girl, meet up leader, and is the Founder of Wild Outsiders Club (formerly Wasatch Little Explorers Club). She is native to Tennessee, and that is where she became a licensed cosmetologist. Shortly after starting her career, her inner gypsy brought her to move out to the western US and she now vows to never leave. She enjoys going on road trips with her family to their favorite places, and has already taken her daughter old to 8 national parks. Some of her hobbies (other than chasing around her toddler and running WOC) include skiing, rock climbing, and slacklining with her best friend and partner in life, Lee. WOC brings out her best qualities because it makes her heart happy knowing that she is making a positive impact on families and communities. She cherishes all of the beautiful friendships she has made through WOC. She has absolutely loved serving the communities of the Wasatch and can't wait to continue to serve in other places, too! Some of the best things about the club is how much she enjoys being a leader to her peers, and making new friends. She can't wait to see where this club continues takes her and shape her and her family's life! Instagram: @wildoutsidersclub
Jessica Hardcastle is a meet up leader in the Ogden area who has one sweet, cuddly baby boy. She is a Utah native, with a degree in Health Promotion & Nutrition Education. She loves adventuring with her family and pups in their truck and camper. Jess is a wonderful friend and is always welcoming to every person she meets. One of her greatest qualities is that she is always smiling and laughing! If you need a shoulder to lean on, or need a helping hand, Jess is sure to be there. Her happiness is contagious and we are so thankful that she was the first one to help expand our meet up leader group. Part of why she loves WOC is that it gives her the opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and expose her son to the love she has for the great outdoors. She is excited to watch WOC grow and evolve, and she feels so blessed to be a part of it all! We are proud to have Jess as a leader for us because she never fails to bring her good attitude and never-ending happiness to every event she is apart of! Instagram: @okdarlin
Alex Zesiger is our running group leader who also leads hikes as well, both in the Ogden area. Alex is a wonderful first time mom to an adorable baby girl, and she is working towards her degree in Anthropology with an emphasis in Pathology and Ethnobotany. She enjoys hiking in the beautiful mountains of the Wasatch, writing, and running along the Ogden River Parkway. Alex has a warm smile, quirky sense of humor, and can be friends with anyone. She is a little shy at first, but Alex's story of strength after overcoming postpartum depression is one that she shares in hopes to inspire other mamas that might be dealing with the same thing. Once you break through that shell, she will crack you up with her 'realness!' She feels that WOC helped her get through those hard times in the beginning of her journey as a new mom, and now she loves being involved with all that WOC can do to serve our community. We are extremely happy that Alex is a leader because she continually shows us how important it is to have community and acceptance within that community! Instagram: @atzesiger
Meagan Johnsen is a meet up leader in the Brigham City area and stay-at-home mom to 3 wild, happy children! Although she is chronically late, she kicks butt at being an awesome mommy and does it all with a smile and lots of humor. Meagan loves life and has seen and done amazing things, making her main priority as a mother to show her kiddos every bit that this world has to offer. Meagan is constantly laughing and the positivity that she brings to each meet up radiates. Meagan is full of love and she can turn your day around because she makes everyone around her feel good about themselves. She is a great example of an attentive, humble mama. She loves that WOC brings together new moms, seasoned moms, single moms, and moms to many, so they can all learn from each other by sharing stories and advice. Meagan is a joy to have on our team because she will always go with the flow and she always, always bring her good vibes with her! Instagram: @meagjohnsen
Amanda Edmonds is a meet up leader, and WOC missions leader in the SLC area. She is an energetic adventure mom to 2 wonderful kids. Upon meeting Amanda, you will notice that she is full of HAPPY vibes. Similar to the other meet up leaders, Amanda is as 'real' as they come. She is unapologetically herself and loves getting to know new friends! Before becoming a meet up leader, Amanda was already leading her own adventures through her personal instagram account. She vows to try her hardest to take her kids on a camping trip once a month, and get outside in some way each day. She loves climbing and sharing nature with her family and that joy radiates from her! Amanda spear-headed our first service project 'Save Bonanza Flats' and she is full of love for the backcountry of the Wasatch. She's a people-person that anyone can relate to, and we are SO stoked that she is apart of WOC! Instagram: @adventuringwithkids
Lisel Alexander is a meet up leader in the SLC area. She is a mom of 2, a sweet little girl and a newborn boy! During the winter she works at Snowbird and she is also a part-time nurse. Lisel grew up in Orem, UT but has lived in Hawaii and Alaska as well. Her family has settled back in Utah and they're excited to be back to skiing, climbing, hiking, biking and enjoying all that is offered in the gorgeous Wasatch. Lisel enjoys having an adventurous life and she hopes to continue to do so with her daughter and newborn son in tow. She has a warm smile, a great attitude, and caring personality. Lisel is the perfect example of an epic, outdoor-mama! We knew she'd be a perfect meet up leader because she is inspiring to others in so many ways. One of those ways is that she's a great example of even when you are a parent, you can still find time to do the things you love AND bring the kids along! She is excited to meet new friends and learn from all of the mamas who attend the WOC meet ups, and we are delighted to have her be apart of our expanding club! We feel lucky to have Lisel with us because her positive vibes and caring attitude are always contagious! Instagram: @lisel73517
Kristi Field is a meet up leader out of the Ogden area. She is seriously as sweet as they come! She is a mama/step-mama to 5 kiddos (4 boys and a baby girl) in a blended family. Her family likes to go camping and hiking, although sometimes it is a "special kind of chaos" that she can't help but love! She is originally from Southern California, and moved to Utah about 3 years ago. Kristi has been a workin' woman since the age of 16, but after having her daughter last year, Kristi took on the new full-time-job of a stay-at-home mom. This is where she ran into some postpartum challenges. Getting outside helps her and her family relieve their stresses and she hopes to continue to teach her kids about the therapeutic properties of spending time in nature. Kristi can relate to other moms easily and isn't scared to share her experiences. Although she is typically an introvert, she is great at making new friends at WOC meet ups and she has a strong desire to continue to get out of her comfort zone and learn, grow, and make new connections with others. Kristi is excited to be involed with WOC because she has a deep love for the outdoors and she enjoys being able to share that with her kids and other families too. We are excited to have her on our team of leaders for many reasons, but one of them is because she has the best advice, and she is quite possibly one of the easiest people to talk to! Tanya Bates is a meet up leader in Utah County. She was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM. Her large family hiked, camped, backpacked, and explored a ton growing up. She has recently found a new passion of Botany and that is what she is going back to school for. Tanya has lived all over the US and she and her husband are both gypsies at heart. Tanya appraised homes for several years, but after she gave birth to her 3rd child, she has been a full-time mama with a lot of volunteer work mixed in! Tanya struggled after she gave birth to each baby. Staying busy and giving back to her community seemed to help her cope. With kids, she found it extremely difficult to get back to nature, but WOC has helped her realize how easy it truly is! Tanya is naturally positive and exudes pure joy. You seriously won't see her without a smile! Also, her patience is something to seriously strive for! When you meet her, you'll quickly learn that her favorite thing to do is help. She really feels that through our club, and other organizations like ours, she has been inspired to begin to challenge herself to be brave, and she has found "her people." We welcomed Tanya to become a leader because we knew that she fit our culture of positivity and inclusive nature and we are happy to have her on board! Instagram: @tanyambates
Cindi Opdycke is a meet up leader out of Davis County. Cindi was born and raised in Bountiful, but after graduating from University of Utah, she got a major case of wanderlust. She spent most of her 20s backpacking through 38 countries in Europe, Asia, Central America, and Africa. She is also a PADI dive master! She and her husband have two kids ages 6 & 3. Cindi stays home with her kids and works as the owner of her business, Fry Sauce Hats! She loves canyoneering, traveling, skiing, scuba diving, hiking, cooking and running. You could say that she's a big lover of DOING rad stuff! This woman is a great example of someone who puts her mind to something and then goes for it! But, one thing you can't miss about Cindi is how mellow she is. Cindi might be the easiest person to talk to in the world! She's a great conversationist and has a great attitude. We value these qualities in a leader because her presence is very welcoming. That's truly just who she is! We are beyond stoked to have Cindi on our team because she is full of love and so many life experiences to share! Cindi is excited to be apart of WOC as a leader and she's stoked to work with us on our first item to purchase- our club hats! Check out her business, support her, and look out for WOC hats coming soon from this talented mama! www.frysaucehats.com instagram: @scubacindi
Shaylene Dye is a mom to 2 sweet kiddos and a meet up leader in the SLC/Utah County area. She is a collector of ball caps, if you meet her out on the trail she will most likely be wearing one! She is an explorer and an adventurer at heart, she has to know what's down that dirt road, what's up that canyon, what's over that ridge. She loves to experience the world as many different ways as possible! Shay grew up in rural Colorado. Even her city in Saratoga Springs feels super big to her. She likes to referee high school basketball, cook gourmet food, and snowboard. She hiked and hunted with her dad all her life, but for some reason that all just stopped once she had kids. That's finally changing and being apart of WOC has been a great group to influence that change! Shay is inspired by every parent she meets in the club. She already feels that she learns so much from each of you! She is such a sweet and thoughtful woman- the kind that you could spend all day around and continually feel comfortable and welcome. She would like to learn how to rock climb and mountain bike and those are her two next endeavors! She wants to show her kids that adventure doesn't have to stop, just because you become a mother. We are happy that Shay is apart of our team of leaders because she exudes sincerity and care, and she is a wonderful, friendly being! Instagram: @shaydye
Lindsey Zimmerman is a meet up leader in Davis County and has lived there most of her life. Some of her hobbies include hiking, camping, kayaking, playing the guitar, reading and cooking. Lindsey graduated with her bachelors from Utah State University in Family & Community Services and Psychology and she hopes to start her own non-profit or business in the future! She is a mom to two little wild things, ages 7 & 3. Becoming a mother was difficult for her and she had a hard time taking on that new role and trying to fit societies expectations. Once she embraced herself and started taking her kids with her to climb mountains she felt like she could be herself and be the mom her kids needed. Hiking and exploring nature has been empowering for her and full of lessons and laughter. She loves sharing her love of nature with her kids and knows they cherish the memories of all their little adventures. She hopes to share this same joy with other families and is a huge advocate for connecting families to nature, which is one reason she loves WOC! Lindsey is quiet at first, but she has the best welcoming energy. She is patient with her kids and she is calm and collected. She is also one of those women who just doesn't stop smiling and promoting positivity! She is a stay at home mom who works part time from home for a humanitarian organization that helps kids and families in South America, and has had several opportunities to travel there. She loves traveling and seeing the world! Lindsey is an amazing addition to our WOC leaders because she is a wonderful mom who is continually inspiring us with her ability to mother so well and bring her kids into nature as much as possible. We are exciting for our future with Lindsey in it because she is, dare we say, too stinkin' sweet!! Instagram: @littlemountaineers
Amanda Lindsay is a meet up leader in Davis county. She came to Utah to study Geology in college and she decided to stay because she fell in love with the mountains, desert, and her husband, Steve. She and her husband are weekend warriors with their three babies (age 6, 3, and 9 months) and they are motivated to spend as many nights as they can in their tent with their kids seeking adventure. Amanda has a gentleness about her that shines. Upon meeting her, you may sense that she is quiet, but get her talking and she's an open book full of knowledge and different experiences! She is also a wonderful listener! Amanda is the type of mom that we admire in many ways because she stays calm, she continually includes her kids in her passions, and she keeps it real- in the sweetest way possible. We adore her and her kind and calm demeanor, and we also love that she has a hint of spunk, too! She love hikes with WOC because it gives her kiddos a chance fall in love with hiking and wild places. Her kids get to explore at their own pace and make new friends and this is something that she values tremendously. We are fortunate to have Amanda on our team of leaders because we are pretty sure she is one of the most positive-minded women around and she is one motivated mama; she pushes limits and always involves her kids on her adventures!
