When I stumbled upon WOC on Instagram, my son was 9 months old. We'd just come off a long, cold winter and I was so ready to get outdoors and enjoy some sunshine. Joining the club has brought so much joy and positivity to my weekly routine. I look forward every week to seeing my friends and watching their kids grow up. As one of the first in my circle of local friends to have a child, I was really struggling to connect with other moms. I'm not the type to strike up a random conversation with moms at the park, so finding more "mom friends" was tough. On top of that, my family lives out of state. At times I felt isolated from the world around me as I tried to figure out raising a kid. Joining WLEC gave me opportunities to connect with other local moms who love the outdoors just as much as I do.
Since I joined the group my son has transitioned into an independent toddler who loves to walk on his own. He's a slow hiker when I'm not carrying him, but that's totally fine since there are a wide range of kid ages in the group. It's really cute for him to interact with the older kids. The moms who attend the weekly hikes are friendly and welcoming. I've always felt like I could just be myself. If you're considering participating, I strongly encourage you to join us!
After giving birth to my daughter and transitioning from working full time to being a stay at home mom, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. Luckily I was able to find Ogden Little Explorers Club from a recommendation online. I am pretty shy and was so nervous to go to my first meet-up but the women there were all extremely kind and welcoming. After my first meet-up I was hooked and look forward to going to meet-ups each week, I revel in the company of moms who share my same love of their children and the outdoors. I have always wanted to share my love of nature with my daughter and this group has helped me to do that along with helping me grow as an individual and make new friends. I am so glad I was able to find this club for my own mental wellbeing and for the experiences my daughter is able to have each week. Nothing has helped my postpartum or my transition into motherhood more than WOC!
When I came across WOC on Instagram, it couldn't have been better timing. I had just had my third baby and the thought of taking those littles on a hike by myself, was a bit overwhelming. I saw other moms doing it together so I decided to join them. It has now become something I look forward to every week. I get to visit with some really amazing, fun moms and my kids get the benefits of being outside, exploring their curiosity and socializing with other children. Ashley is so warm and welcoming as are all the other moms that come. I have gained lasting friendships and priceless memories through these meet ups.
Being a mom of a active 3 year old and 9 month old twins makes it a challenge getting out period, let alone out in nature. Wasatch Little Explorers club has been my refuge each week. Uniting all those soul healing properties; exercise, laughter, and friends. All while taking in our gorgeous Wasatch mountains. Ashley has fostered such a positive, loving energy of acceptance and empowerment in the group. Moms (and dads) of all shapes and abilities are welcome. The kids set the tone for the hike by leading on the trail or by taking time to splash in puddles and collect sticks. Everyone shares the attitude that kids are where the adventure should start not where it should end!
I love this club SO MUCH! I was nervous to go to my first meet up because I thought the club might not be for me since my son was just a few months old when we first joined and I didn't think there were many babies in the group. I'm so glad I didn't let my fear keep me from going! My son was by far the tiniest guy there at the time but that didn't matter one bit. EVERYONE was so nice and welcoming! There are new members joining weekly and everyone goes out of their way to make sure they meet you and your little explorers. The support, kindness, and sincerity these parents show you is absolutely amazing. I've made some sweet friendships because of this group. I love being able to share laughs and stories, get ideas and feedback if I need it, AND be outside enjoying all of Mother Nature's beautifulness! I look forward to every hike where I get to spend time with my friends and make new ones, too. I'm excited for my son to grow up being apart of such a rad club!
I had just moved to Ogden with three little ones and was looking for ways to meet other local parents, friends for my kids, and get to know my new backyard (the Wasatch!), when I found WOC. Ashley was immediately inviting and oozed with positivity. Upon attending, I liked that there was such a variety in families and found it encouraging to see other ladies out on the trails, each carrying their individual lifestyle, literally! It is motivating to me that the meet ups are a constant occurrence, providing inspiration and camaraderie, whether I can make it or not! Thanks Ashley for being our guide, in more ways than one ;)
I love this club! My son, Hudson, and I went to our first meet-up summer of 2016. After that we were hooked! After having my son I quit my full time job to stay home. Best decision ever, but it was also a big adjustment. I wanted my son to be around more kids and I seriously missed interacting with others. WLEC was our answer! After several meetups and lots of chats with other momma’s we grew to becoming avid hikers. We love meeting up with the group and now have the confidence to go it alone. Something I wouldn’t have done without the encouragement from this group. The WOC community is amazing! I am so glad we found them & Ashley on instagram!
Soon after giving birth to my daughter in October of 2016, I was getting a little stir crazy and was anxious to get outside. I started looking around for local groups and found Wild Outsiders Club. I'm also as introverted as they come so showing up to a meet up where I didn't know anyone was a challenge for me, but I'm so glad I did!! Everyone was so friendly and I felt so welcome. It was nice to get outside on the trails and talk with other moms. The kiddos were all different ages so each of my kids had someone their age to play with. Now it's something we look forward to each week and my kids ask when we're going hiking with our 'hiking friends.' I love the opportunity to meet new moms each week, the friendships I've made and the joy of watching the kids explore on the trails!
